I agree with the statement of a well known minister who said that the Church has too much "Cross religion". Jesus said that we are to daily take up our cross and follow Him. AND. AND. AND. The Bible says that the preaching of the cross is foolish to those who are lost but to we who saved it's the power of God.So what did Jesus mean when He said to take up our cross and follow Him? Cross religion and the message of the cross are entirely different. the message of the cross is scriptural. Cross religion is not. Cross religion puts us on the cross. It keeps us there with no victory and no way to walk in the fulness of what Jesus did for us, what He has given us, and what he has equipped us for and sent us to do.
Jesus died for us on the cross and instructed us to take up our cross. Here is the reason for the title of this blog. Jesus said AND follow me. He didn't say to stay on the cross. He said AND follow Him. Where did Jesus go? To where do we follow Him?
Ephesians Chapter 1 tells us that after being crucified, Jesus was raised from the dead and seated at the right hand of God, with all authority. Ephesians Chapter 2 tells us that we are also raised up and seated in heavenly places, IN HIM. So remember the AND in what Jesus said.Jesus meant for us to take up our cross and follow Him. We must daily remember that we are dead as far as sin and our old life are concerned. We must daily remember that we are seated in heavenly places in Christ, with total victory in Him, Walk in the light of this reality.
Don't be bound by cross religion. Be free by the tmessage of the cross. Jesus died, was raised from the dead, and seated in the place of all authority. AND so are you.
